‘Keep It Going’, Lennon Expects Celtic Consistency

Neil Lennon has praised his side’s mentality after the Scottish Cup holders navigated a tricky away day versus Clyde to make it 33 wins in domestic cup competitions.

After overcoming testing conditions caused by Storm Ciara, the result yesterday sets up a Quarter Final away to St Johnstone. However the Celtic manager, while speaking to Celtic TV, is expecting his side to keep up their high levels of performance.

“It is incredible. Great consistency from the players.

“We were clear favourites so we made sure there were no mistakes and now we keep rolling on.

“It was comfortable, we used the squad as well so it was a good day all round.”

Goals from Ntcham and Brown gave Celtic a 2-0 halftime lead at Broadwood before substitute Bayo rounded off the scoring shortly before Bobby Madden blew for full-time.

The Celtic manager wasn’t getting too caught up in the incredible record, already he was wanting to move on and discuss the next fixture – Hearts at home on Wednesday.

“Back to league business and a home game.

“We have a heavy schedule of games so it was good to use the squad.

“Hearts have picked up a little bit but we are playing well at home and obviously playing well in the league and we just want to keep it going and keep it going.”

Despite Hearts’ resurgence under Daniel Stendel, the Scottish Champions will be looking to do the business at Celtic Park and hopefully extend their lead at the top of the table, should Alex Dyer’s Killie take anything off of Rangers at Rugby Park.

Hearts still sit bottom of the table despite a win over Rangers last month but will know that this is a free hit for them as the ‘six pointer’ is versus Hamilton Accies at the weekend.
