Celtic boss trolls rivals with knock-out punchline

Brendan Rodgers is proving he’s box office on and off the park…

When Celtic appointed Brendan Rodgers for a second spell as Manager back in June 2023, there was naturally a few folk undecided on the Irishman’s return for obvious reasons, but one things for sure is that we got ourselves a manager who is box office, on and off the pitch.

That has been shown on the park despite a couple of disappointing results this term, we are still the top dogs in this country and we currently sit in our usual position which is of course at the top of the league, looking down on theRangers.

Brendan has not only stamped his authority on the park he’s done it off the park also. The days of the no nonsense presence of Ange Postecoglou in front of the media pack are long gone, but Brendan in his own way knows how to handle them. The other day proved just that when he was asked about a VAR incident in the Scottish cup tie against Buckie which could have resulted in a spot kick for Celtic.

After a lengthy look it was decided there was no case to answer as Liel Abada was actually offside in the build up. Brendan didn’t have a gripe with the final outcome, which he accepted as  the correct call. Instead he had used the protocol involved by the much maligned VAR system, as the context of the best delivery of the season – with comic genius – to deliver a knock-out blow of a punchline.

Brendan said: “ if it’s offside then the penalty doesn’t even matter…as we know!” and just like that Brendan had infuriated the SMSM and the Rangers supporters. It was a wonderful piece of trolling by the Irishman, absolutely genius from the Celtic manager.

A few short words was all it took to upset a great deal of people and to make the point that their penalty claim on 30 December didn’t matter a jot because IT WAS OFFSIDE.  Brendan is well and truly back, and he is box office.
