Connell has been tipped for a Celtic breakthrough since joining from Bolton Wanderers in 2019. Connell has had to bide his time for game time so far, only appearing for the youth team. Connell told the Queen’s Park website that he was delighted to return to the South Side outfit.
“I’m delighted to be back. I really enjoyed my time at the club last season and know most of the boys, so when the chance came up to return it was an easy decision to make. I’m looking forward to getting started”.
Connell, a regular with Ireland’s U21 side, was a feature in the Spiders side towards the end of last season that sealed the League Two title at a canter and now he will be hoping to secure another promotion, this time to the Championship. The player became a favourite for Queen’s Park with a repertoire of fine passing, confident set pieces and stunning strikes at goal. Hopefully, Connell can prove to Celtic that he is a quality player and certainly one for the future.
Connell will likely be involved in some capacity in the game against Clyde today whilst Celtic will play on Sunday away to Livingston.
