Celtic confirm loan-to-buy departure of Academy star

Celtic have announced the departure of Academy talent Ben Summers. The promising 21-year-old attacker has completed a move to Somerset Park to link up with Celtic legend Scott Brown.

Despite joining Celtic at aged 7, Summers has been persuaded to move away from the Scottish Champions in order to make his mark on professional football.

Celtic confirmed that the player would be departing on loan, as he has done previously with Dunfermline Athletic and Admira Wacker.

The Honest Men revealed that Summers would join the Championship side on a permanent deal, penning a two year contract.

Celtic Assistant Manager Shaun Maloney will be fully focused on the First Team but in his role as First Team Pathways Manager, he has to help pave the way towards Paradise from the Academy.

Maloney and Martin O’Neill have been working together with the recruitment team at the club to bring some quality players into the squad. There are a number of gaps that need to be addressed and it is somewhat alarming that these have not been addressed given the stage of the window.
