Celtic considering pre-contract offer to James McCarthy

Celtic are considering a pre-contract offer for Crystal Palace’s James McCarthy according to reports. The Daily Mail claim that The Scottish Champions are interested in bringing the 30-year-old in as they plan an overhaul at the club following a poor season.

The former Hamilton and Wigan midfielder grew up a Celtic supporter and has been linked a number of times in his career. However, with his deal expiring with The Premier League side, the club could look to sanction a move to bring the Ireland International back to Scotland.

Celtic will face competition from Burnley, West Ham, Brighton, West Brom and Championship promotion chasers Bournemouth. Roy Hodgson’s side may still look to offer new tweets to the midfielder after releasing Max Meyer last week.

As a Celtic supporter, the player may been keen on coming on board as the club look to build afresh after what has been a bitterly disappointing season. Celtic have a number of midfield options – Brown, McGregor, Ntcham, Christie, Rogic and Soro – but it is likely that there will be an overhaul of players this season with a number of players looking to move on from the club.
