Celtic discuss permanent deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers with Tottenham

Celtic have officially opened talks with English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of USA international, Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to a report in Daily Record. The rugged defender has been rock solid since his arrival in Glasgow’s East End and now it looks as though the Celtic Board have decided to loosen the purse-strings for a permanent deal for the centre-back, as per Ange Postecoglou’s wishes.

Cameron has been instrumental in helping Celtic remain the best defence in the League this season so far, with the fewest goals conceded. This is also in no small part due to the understanding he has struck up between himself, Carl Starfelt, and Joe Hart. The three gave proved to be very shrewd signings from the manager this year.

With rumours aplenty that Spurs were looking for astronomical prices for their out-of-favour centre-half, Daily Record have reported that there may be room for manoeuvre not terms of price. It is stated that Celtic even may be allowed to pay a reduced price this month if a substantial sell-on fee is inserted into the deal with lucrative add-ons.

In the meantime, the club will also be looking to tie-up our other loanee, Felipe Jota, on a permanent deal. Jota should cost around the £6 million bracket and will also likely include a sell-on fee for any future sale. Ultimately, it will be down to the players in these agreements if they want to commit their future long-term to Celtic FC.

Along with our three new Japanese arrivals, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping he can persuade the loan Bhoys that the only place they can possibly develop to the highest level at this point in their careers is at Celtic Park.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
