Ange Postecoglou has named his strongest possible Celtic side to take on Everton in the Accor Stadium in Sydney, which of course is the scene of The Celtic manager’s major triumph with the Socceroos when they won the Asia Cup Final against South Korea in 2015.
The 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC would have frustrated and disappointed the Celtic manager who will now be doubly determined to defeat Everton so as to leave Australians with one good Celtic performance and victory to remember.
Joe Hart is in goals and the two full backs are Anthony Ralston on the right and Greg Taylor on the left. Carl Starfelt starts alongside Moritz Jenz in the centre of The Celtic defence now that his concussion protocols have all been successfully observed following that head knock he took against Ross County last weekend.
Matt O’Riley plays in the Callum McGregor role, and hasn’t he been outstanding as the stand-in number 6? Reo Hatate and David Turnbull are the two number 8s while ]Sead Haksabanovic is in the right wing, Jota on the left and Kyogo is through the middle.
On the bench for Celtic are Siegrist, Bain, Bernabei, Welsh, Abildgaard, Ideguchi, Forrest, Giakoumakis, Abada, Robertson, Hatate, Lawal and Vata.
