Celtic eye 25-goal striker as potential replacement for Odsonne Edouard

Celtic are reportedly eyeing a deal for Young Boys’ striker Jean-Pierre Nsame. The 27-year-old has scored 25 goals in all competitions and TeamTalk claim that Celtic are one of the clubs vying for the signature of the Cameroonian International.

West Ham, Newcastle and Southampton are all interested in prising the player away from Switzerland; however, Celtic could be well placed to offer the player a move that would allow both European football and the opportunity to progress his career.

Celtic are expecting the departure Odsonne Edouard in the summer and Patryk Klimala has already exited the club, heading for New York Red Bull in a deal that could reach £5m. Nsame could be seen as the natural replacement for Edouard, who is being reportedly being eyed by Borussia Dortmund. Celtic missed out on Ivan Toney last season, opting for Albian Ajeti; however, they have had to regret that decision as Toney went from strength to strength with Brentford.

Nsame has an impressive record in Switzerland, scoring 97 goals and 26 assists in 169 appearances since joining from Swiss side Servette. The player has a deal until 2023 and Transfermarkt claims he is worth £6.5m.
