Celtic will face competition for the signature of promising Hibernian full-back Josh Doig. The left-back has impressed this season so far and Jack Ross is braced for bids as the 18-year-old continues to shine for the Easter Road side.
According to Sky Sports, Celtic will face a battle from two of England’s biggest teams as they continue to scour the Scottish market for emerging talent. With 20 games under his belt this season, the attacking displays have impressed a number of scouts, who will be seeing left-backs as one of Scotland’s finest exports with Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, Greg Taylor, Aaron Hickey and now Doig coming through and impressing.
However, it is said that Celtic will not launch a bid this window as they prioritise central defence, right back and maybe a new goalkeeper. But with Diego Laxalt’s loan deal unlikely to be converted into a permanent stay, the club will look for another option to play at left-back.
With Jeremie Frimpong leaving the club yesterday, Celtic will likely reinvest a small portion of that in identifying a stop gap replacement. This is probably owing to a restructure in the summer with a number of players likely to leave. A right back would also allow Kris Ajer to play in his preferred position, too.
