Mikael Lustig will be walking out at Hampden on Tuesday, over two years since his emotional exit from Celtic. Lustig was instrumental in the Treble Treble success, a few weeks earlier he had scored the goal that got Celtic on their way to seal 8IAR at Pittodrie and he helped the team come back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 against Hearts.
It was Lustig’s header that evaded the Hearts’ defence and set Odsonne Edouard away to make it 2-1. Although, despite his performances that season, a new deal was not forthcoming and he left at the end of his contract. A fitting end for a Celtic hero.

Now, he will return with an impressive Swedish side that finished top of their group. The Swedes will take on Ukraine at Hampden with Lustig hoping that he can help fire his country into the Quarter Finals.

Celtic have struggled to replace Lustig as an established first pick down Celtic’s right hand side. Elhamed and then Frimpong had spells there but both have left the club. New boss Ange Postecoglou will know that he needs to address this immediately and there was some chat of Celtic launching a £7m bid for Valentin Rosier of Sporting CP.
