Celtic finally offload £5m transfer flop Albian Ajeti

Celtic have finally managed to offload Albian Ajeti. The Swiss striker has joined Turkish side Gaziantep FK and leaves as one of the most underwhelming Celtic signings of this century. In three years, the player scored just 9 goals despite his £5m price tag and his departure frees up some wages in the squad.

The decision by the Irishman not to include the forward in pre-season camps over in Portugal and Japan indicated whether to not he say a future for Ajeti at the club.

Ajeti signed from David Moyes’ West Ham United in the summer of 2020 as Celtic favoured the Swiss striker over Ivan Toney. Over two seasons, Ajeti made 48 appearances and found the net on just 9 occasions, around £550k per goal. With Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis showing their best form in the 2021/22 season, Ajeti slipped out of the picture after Christmas due to an injury. A loan with the option to buy deal was struck in the summer of 2022 with Sturm Graz. The attacker failed to impress and returned to Celtic but was not involved with the pre-season plans under Rodgers.

Good luck to him but what a waste of money.

Ajeti is signing the contract at night, note the window. If it was in day light he would have changed his mind. the town of Gazientep in Turkey was at the epicentre of the recent earthquakes there. Destruction on a massive scale.
