Celtic star Matt O’Riley yesterday showed £10m bid was way undervalued

Matt O’Riley was the subject of a £10 million bid by English Championship side Leeds United just before the transfer window shut on Friday. Thankfully Celtic saw fit to not entertain the bid and sent the English side packing, and rightly so as £10 million for one of our most valuable assets was very disrespectful.

Especially after the display Matt put in at Ibrox yesterday afternoon. He along with Callum McGregor bossed the midfield. Matt was everywhere and ran himself into the ground as he helped the side grab a vital victory.

He of course also assisted Kyogo for his brilliant winner, and hilariously sent TikTok Todd for a hotdog in his own penalty area. That in itself was sublime. Matt has improved greatly under Brendan Rodgers and has even added a couple of goals this season already, something that has perhaps been missing form his game.

If Matt keeps improving and I’m sure he will, he will become even more critical to this Celtic team under Brendan Rodgers and that is some prospect as he’s a great talent at the moment. He will go for big money one day and a helluva lot more than the offer that Leeds United bid last week. You can’t blame them for trying.

  1. Very disrespectful… allegedly they had £11million to spend on 2 players , but had already spunked almost £1 million on Kamara … then thought they might low ball the Champions for a measly £10 mil .
Stupid bHuns still think they got £5.5 mil plus add ons of another £5 mil if Leeds avoid relegation!

  2. With the greatest of respect, I watched the whole game yesterday, probably without even blinking!
But I sincerely thought that O’Riley was non-existent for 85% of the game! I fely both Matt and David Turnbull were terrible. But this said, for the first 45 minutes we were dominant and McGregor was back to his normal superior self.
We did give them too much respect in the second half, until we made some substitutions at least.
Holm slotted in well as did Yang. Ralston seems to have gone backwards again, playing the way he did in the pre-Juranovic days. He had two decent seasons, but time to let him go I suspect, and the same goes for Taylor.
But one thing for certain, we need Hatate back in that midfield! Turnbull, as much as I like him, is not the match winner Hatate can be.
