Celtic flop set to seal £5m move to English club tomorrow

Celtic flop Vakoun Issouf Bayo looks set to seal a £5m move to Watford expected to be confirmed tomorrow. According to The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal, Bayo will be announced as a Watford player tomorrow as the International market opens up.

Taking to Twitter, Leventhal said that the deal is expected to go through on July 1st.

Gent signed him for £1.2m last summer but struggled to make an impact before being loaned to Charleroi, who retained the option to buy. They triggered that clause but now it looks like the Ivory Coast Internationalist is set for a move to England.

Neil Lennon gave Bayo some chances and it was obvious that he had presence in attack but again, he was impacted by injuries.

The player was clearly not a Brendan Rodgers signing, which meant that he wasn’t integrated into the first team when he arrived. Injuries and a lack of match fitness meant that Lennon didn’t have a chance to fully utilise him as it didn’t appear that he was a better option than Griffiths or Edouard.
