Celtic Foundation donate coronavirus aid to New York’s vulnerable

CELTIC FC FOUNDATION have donated £30k to New York’s battle against coronavirus with the money earmarked for homeless and children’s charities. New York has lost nearly 18,000 to the deadly virus but Celtic are ready to try and do their bit and mitigate the harm caused.

As reported by the Scottish Sun,

Whilst some clubs will make statements in their own self-interest, Celtic have shown their class by trying to help those in society that will be most adversely affected by the crisis.

The work of the club and the foundation is to be applauded, they endeavour to emulate and follow the foundations upon which Celtic was created. Peter Lawwell commented that he is delighted to be offering a helping hand to New York charities, due to Celtic’s strong ties with the America.

“Everyone at Celtic is delighted to support these fantastic initiatives in New York, a city which is continuing to experience particularly severe challenges.

“We are fortunate to have millions of fans worldwide and so many in New York who have been hugely important in establishing and supporting our charitable work there.

“We send our fans, our charity partners and everyone in the city our love and best wishes during this difficult time and we will continue to offer as much support as we possibly can to help people in need.”

Celtic’s commitment is the largest in Scottish football and the altruism is to be admired at this time. Whilst other teams issue statements in self interest demanding investigations and concessions to be made for them under the facade of sporting integrity, Celtic are carrying on with dignity and decorum. Something that other teams could learn a lot from.
