‘They were never going to catch us’, Scott Brown takes aim

SCOTT BROWN has stated that he believes that Rangers had already admitted defeat in the league before the league was postponed due to Coronavirus. The Celtic captain spoke to PLZ Soccer about the season so far and he has dismissed the title argument coming from Ibrox that they could get caught.

The 34-year-old has been in incredible form once again this season as Celtic pushed for yet another Treble. Neil Lennon’s side have bounced back tremendously following the defeat at the end of December. Brown believes that even Rangers manager Steven Gerrard admitted that they could only win the Scottish Cup.

“I think their manager and everyone understood that they were never going to catch us.

“They said it in the press themselves – the only chance they had to win was the Scottish Cup so they pretty much admitted defeat already.

“For us it was all about going to Dubai and understanding that we lost that game to Rangers at the end of December but we had to make sure we put things right and we managed to do that.”

Brown’s comments are spot on as despite the public outcry from the Rangers supporters, their management team were resigned to Celtic’s 9th title in a row.

Rangers were beaten by Hearts in the Scottish Cup and sat 13 points behind Neil Lennon’s Celtic. Despite a defeat at home to Gerrard’s Rangers, Celtic returned from Dubai and registered 11 straight domestic wins before a draw with Livingston. On the night that Celtic drew with Livi, Rangers were beaten 1-0 at home to Hamilton.
