“Celtic have been brilliant, Ange has done a fantastic job there,” Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has praised Ange Postecoglou for the ‘fantastic job’ he’s done since taking over as Celtic manager last June with the Leicester City boss noting that the Australian has Celtic playing some ‘terrific football’ that put them in a great position – regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Speaking to Sky Sports this morning Rodgers said:

“Celtic have been brilliant, Ange has done a fantastic job there. A lot of the new players have come in along with the guys who were amazing in my time there; Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Nir Bitton, these guys.

“They’ve played some terrific football and got themselves into a great position. Whatever happens at the end of the game on Sunday, Celtic will still be top and still be in a really, really good position.

“Ibrox is a great place to go and play. To win there is special as well as a Celtic player or manager. I’m sure they’ll go there and play with no fear and look to go and win the game.”

The former Celtic manager also looked back on his own time managing Celtic in matches against theRangers and reckons that the fixture should revert back to having a full allocation of away fans, something Sky Sports has been pushing ahead of this fixture, as you can see HERE.

“The uniqueness of Celtic and (the)Rangers is the supporters. To actually feel a game against (the)Rangers as Celtic manager, it’s such a special occasion,” Rodgers said.

“I remember virtually all the games I had as a Celtic manager against (the)Rangers and they’re such tense games, home and away. We had some really good results at Ibrox as well.

Celtic will have just 700 fans at Ibrox on Sunday, Rodgers believes the allocation should be returned to 7000.

“I just hope going forward that the two teams can get the allocation back, because that’s what truly makes it a spectacle around the world.

“They’re still great games. I watched the last game when Celtic won 3-0. They played fantastically well and the Celtic Park atmosphere was amazing. But that extra bit comes whenever you have your 7/8000 supporters who travel as well. That really brings the atmosphere up a little bit. Hopefully they can get back to those numbers again.”
