Celtic confidence high as Larisey eyes League Cup and Scottish Cup Double

Celtic FC Women star Clarissa Larisey scored a contender for the SWPL1 Goal of the Season last weekend against Hibs at Celtic Park and was our Player of the Match in the League Cup Final win over Glasgow City at Firhill at the start of December.

Now the 22 year old Canadian forward has set her target for the remainder of the season on adding a second piece of silverware to the Parkhead trophy cabinet by winning the Scottish Cup.

Larisey is surely a certain starter on Sunday afternoon when Fran Alonso takes his side to Aberdeen for the third time this season, this time on Scottish Cup quarter finals duty.

On her stunning opener last weekend, Larisey told Celtic TV: “That was amazing, I wasn’t expecting it myself but with everyone pressuring during that throw-in I was ready to go and I literally saw it before it happened. I was saying to myself,’oh, this is going to be a goal, and I kept taking a touch then that finish, I couldn’t ask for a better angle or a better finish it was just perfect.

On scoring and indeed winning at Paradise the Celtic FC Women star described her feelings on the very special afternoon at Celtic Park. “Absolutely amazing, I’ve never been in an environment like this and especially with the fans and the team being so focused and ready to off the bat, it was overall a really good game from our team in general.

“This game has definitely made us more confident, it kinda feels like we have more support from the fans from everyone who came and I know a lot of people watched it (On Celtic TV or BBC Alba) and were congratulating us and all that so we’re going to bring all that confidence and the same effort into this (Scottish) Cup game.

On Aberdeen Larisey had this note of caution for the Celtic team ahead of Sunday’s quarter final. “They can definitely surprise you, their counter attacks, their possession, we’ve just got to be ready for anything. You never know hat can happen.”

On the targets for the remainder of the season, where Celtic have one cup in the trophy room but are out of contention for the league title this season so the focus is very much on the Scottish Cup, Larisey said:

“I think just winning another cup, obviously finish off by winning the rest of our games.”

Celtic play Aberdeen at the Balmoral Stadium on Sunday 3 April in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup. Kick-off is at 4pm. A double at Ibrox and Balmoral would make it a Beautiful Sunday for all Celtic supporters.
