Celtic have more winners than Ibrox outfit reckons Alan Rough

Alan Rough has given his thoughts on the current domestic dominance by Celtic FC over their rivals, theRangers, and has concluded that it comes to the Hoops having more winners in their team than across the way in Govan. The former Scotland goalkeeper was speaking to PLZ Soccer with Peter Martin and Tam McManus in the most recent episode on Scottish football.

It is a fact that the Bhoys do have more winners in the team than their counterparts over the way at Ibrox. Despite this though, there is a clear gulf in quality between the two sides which Rough has failed to mention. He goes even as far to say that there isn’t miles between the sides, but that is just disingenuous, to say the least. The problem is that Celtic have both the winning mentality and the better calibre of player.

The whole mainstream media seem to be in denial about this point and are trying their best to kid on that there’s not much between the two teams. But anybody who has been watching properly knows that Celtic have been toying with them in most games, even though theRangers have managed to land a blow. It’s been more us shutting off than anything else and we look to be very comfortable during games these games – home or away against them.

I get where Roughie is coming from but just give up the ghost and admit that Celtic are just far superior at this moment in time, and that the other mob require a miracle of sorts to regain that amount of ground on us and eventually usurp the Hoops as their supporters and the mainstream media so desperately want. Eddie Murray posted a wonderful article on Celtic and the media and you can read all about that here.

There’s an illusion going on out there that Celtic aren’t that good and that the Ibrox club are just too poor right now. But anybody who’s anybody knows that this isn’t the case. They aren’t throwing anything away, we are skelping them continually, regardless of where it takes place – Celtic Park, Ibrox, Hampden – it’s all the same to us. Beale has done as well as to be expected. We are just superior right now. It’s something they’re going to have to learn and deal with – media included.

C’mon Roughie, your better than that mate!

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.

  1. He’s right! But one thing “the rangers” do have that Celtic will never have, is the sfa/spfl in tgeir pockets.
