Celtic hope to beat Turkish side to the signing of a former loan striker

It’s clear that Neil Lennon is still looking for ways to improve his squad going forward, although this rumour would make you question the immediate futures of Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala.

Oliver Burke can be an exciting player on his day and he certainly has all the tools to be a top quality player, but he can also be frustrating to watch when things don’t come off.

He spent last season on loan at Alaves where he terrorised the Real Madrid defence in one game, but he still has the tendency to get lost and he struggles to get into the game.

He had a successful loan spell at Celtic a couple of years ago and there’s no doubting that his pace could be useful in certain situations, and a report from MSN has indicated that Celtic are trying to bring him back again.

It’s suggested that Turkish side Trabzonspor are trying their best to sign him, but one of their media outlets Fotomac have stated that Celtic are doing what they can to re-sign him.

Interestingly the report also states that there’s still bad blood between Celtic and West Brom following his previous loan spell where angry exchanges were had in the media, so it sounds like this would need to be a permanent move rather than a loan switch.

He probably won’t play up front but he would be a good rotation option with Elyounoussi while James Forrest is showing signs of staleness so added competition could be good for him too.

He can also act as a back up to Ajeti and Eddy, so it would allow Klimala to go out on loan or Griffiths might end up being forced out of the squad.

It is clear that he has no future at all with West Brom just now, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
