Celtic in talks with £10m-rated key transfer target

Celtic are reportedly in talks with Brondby over the signing of Mathias Kvistgaarden. The 22-year-old has been courted by Celtic for the last eighteen months as they have monitored what life would be like after Kyogo.

Sky Sports News reporter Anthony Joseph has updated supporters to say that Celtic are in talks over a possible deal for the Dane but that Brondby want a record fee of £10m.

Celtic will need to put their hands in their pockets to sign Kvistgaarden but with Kyogo away and Luis Palma also expected to depart, Celtic could have some additional cash to spend on the player. It is one to watch before the window shuts, along with Kieran Tierney.

Adam Idah showed what he can do when he’s the main striker at the club with a brace against Villa. The Irishman requires support, however, and Kvistgaarden has been widely touted as the man to come in and offer that support. Brendan has spoken previously about wanting two first choice strikers and a young forward to act as the third choice.

Celtic have known that Kyogo would likely depart this window for some time. Certainly the fact that the Japanese striker changed agents last summer was indicative that a move was in his mind. Brendan has said that there is work going on in the background as Celtic look to bring in a player.

  1. This should be an easy one even for our short sighted Board. He’s an interesting prospect. Quick, sharp, good eye for goal. Shares some attributes with Kyogo so a lot of sense fitting him into the system.
Even at 10M if he does really well the bean counters could double their money in a season.
