Celtic in two-way battle for Brazilian Vinicius Souza

It now appears that Celtic are in a two-way battle with Fenerbache for the signature of Vinicius Souza. The Brazilian hit the headlines as a Celtic target last week via Stephen McGowan of the Scottish Daily Mail. Now it’s claimed that the Hoops wish to take the player on-loan with an option-to-buy much like the deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers and the highly anticipated Jota.

Now, according to a report in Turkey, it looks like Celtic will be in a two-way battle with Fenerbache for the player’s services. Takvim.com.tr have broken with the news that both teams wish to take the player on-loan with option of a permanent purchase. The report also states that Bologna and Club Brugge are watching but that Fenerbache and Celtic have the most concrete interest.

Jorge Jesus, now head coach of the Turkish giants, also managed South American Souza in Brazil and even likened him to former Manchester United and Chelsea star, Nemanja Matic. As connections go it is a pretty strong one, however, another report has emerged from the same publication that Jesus is keen to reunite with another former player, William Carvalho, who now plays for our old European foes Real Betis in La Liga.

This could pave the way for Ange Postecoglou and Michael Nicholson to procure the big midfielder on an initial loan deal and see how he settles in Scotland this year. If he is anything like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota we should be in for a treat, that’s for sure.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
