Celtic insider rubbishes Kevin Muscat to Celtic rumour, according to report

Kevin Muscat will not be involved at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou, according to a club insider. The Daily Record are reporting that the Australian will not be joining Postecoglou’s backroom team despite a report Down Under suggesting that he might.

The majority of Celtic fans were extremely unhappy with the prospect of Muscat coming to the club due to his season at Rangers. According to Australian outlet SEN, journalist Andy Maher said that he had heard a rumour that Muscat may be involved with a Postecoglou background team. However, whether it be a poor source or lazy journalism, this has now been rebuffed by a club source.

Muscat played 22 times for Rangers but only spent time with Postecoglou at Melbourne Victory, where Ange inherited him from a previous regime. When Ange was appointed Socceroos boss, he didn’t offer a role in the club to Muscat suggesting that the reason he was linked with a reunion was merely due to the fact he had been in Glasgow before. Scott McDonald will no doubt be linked next.

Celtic are undergoing a colossal rebuilding operation at the club after the failed bid for 10IAR and a number of stars look set to depart. Postecoglou will need to assemble a staff that he can trust and is capable of mounting the challenge next season. Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer look set to leave in the summer. The club’s recruitment needs to be excellent in order to get the team back on track after a poor season.
