Celtic are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday’s highly-rated midfielder Liam Shaw. The Englishman, 19, has just a few months remaining on his deal with the Yorkshire side and this means that Celtic could sign him for a small development fee.
The Athletic reports that Celtic are interested in bringing the starlet to Celtic Park this summer. The report signals a change in recruitment strategy for the club in line with Brexit restrictions on recruitment. Shaw has broken into the Wednesday first team this season, making 12 appearances with 1 goal and 1 assist in that time.

In recent seasons, Celtic have signed players like Jeremie Frimpong, Lee O’Connor, Jonathan Afolabi and Luca Connell using the cross border rule. Enticing players to a club of Celtic’s stature is one thing but bringing them through the ranks is another. Jeremie Frimpong is the only player that has really made a mark on the first team since arriving from one of the Premier League academies; although it is an emerging market.
Celtic have been linked with pre-contract moves for Ben Pearson, Ben Davies, James McCarthy and Bright Osayi-Samuel. However, it is unlikely that any business will be done in terms of incomings until there is a decision on the future of the management team at the club.
No more midfielders please use the ones we got. DEFENDERS !!!
