Celtic legend admits star player may need to be sold this Summer amid Premier League interest

Realistically there are only three or four teams in the world who can legitimately claim that they aren’t selling clubs, so everyone else just needs to accept that and deal with things as well as they can.

Celtic have that problem where they can attract talented players to develop, but there will always come a time when they will need to move on.

Odsonne Edouard is clearly the pick of the bunch at this point, his ability and physicality is too good for Scottish football and he could excel in any league, so of course there will be interest in him.

The Daily Record reported on some comments from Celtic legend Pat Bonner, and he seems to think that Eddy could be gone this Summer.

He said: “Celtic will probably have to sell one or two players in the summer. Edouard looks like he could be one. I was talking to one of the scouts from Everton who was here today.”

“He’s talking so highly of guys like McGregor and Edouard and they are attracting the attention of big clubs.”

The link with Leicester is an obvious one due to Brendan Rodgers, but the report also talks about interest from Everton.

Although they might not be seen as giants of the game, they have plenty of money to spend so Celtic could still take a huge fee for him.

Edouard in action

The positive thing from Celtic’s point of view just now is that Eddy doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to leave, so there’s no need to sell him at this point unless a monster offer comes in.

That could always change and it rarely works out well if a player is forced to stay when offers come in, but it sounds like there could be plenty of stories about him moving this Summer.
