Celtic legend Martin O’Neill wanted for shock return to management

Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill could be set for a shock return to management after it emerged that the Irishman is wanted for a role in Eastern Europe. The 72-year-old is currently Chairman of the LMA but is wanted for a return to the dugout.

According to outlet Fanatik, via Celtic Way, Rapid Bucharest are keen on bringing the former Celtic, Leicester and Ireland manager to the Romanian capital to take over.

Rapid are at the bottom of the Championship group (similar to the split) but will be looking for a strong finish to the league. O’Neill, who has had success through his career, has said recently that he is reluctant to accept that his career in management is over. Although, this might be too far removed for O’Neill to consider.

O’Neill is fondly remembered for his five years in Scotland, in which he won a Treble in his first campaign. The Irishman brought a brand of football that excited supporters and brought domestic success over Rangers, as well as challenging in Europe.

The Celtic legend will be likely considering his next role and it will be interesting to see whether anything comes out of this speculation.
