Celtic look set to lose Scotland U17 striker to Blackburn Rovers due to first team football concerns

It’s a phenomenal achievement for any youngster to actually get a professional contract with a big club, but the bigger challenge comes when they try to find a way into the first team.

The current reality at Celtic is that 10IAR will take all precedence this season, so it’s probably the worst time for any youngster to try and get into the team, as Lenny will take no risks and stick to his experienced players.

That might have played a big role in the future of young striker Connor McBride, with HITC reporting that he’s set to leave Celtic in favour of a move to Blackburn Rovers.

He’s played for Scotland at U17 level and clearly looks like a talented player, but it’s hard to see him getting any first team minutes at this point.

They also claim that he feels he has a better chance of developing by moving to Blackburn, so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

He does have some first team experience from a loan spell at Stenhousemuir, where he managed one goal and one assist in 14 appearances.

While that’s not a remarkable return in any way,  it must’ve been enough to convince Blackburn that he’s got something about him that’s worth having a punt on.
