Celtic make approach for Gremio striker who is ‘tricky’

Celtic have approached Gremio over the possibility of signing their striker Ferreira. The 25-year-old is seen by the club as the ideal replacement for flair player Jota, who left in a record-breaking deal earlier this month to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.

According to Football Scotland’s Mark Hendry, who has been pretty consistent with his stories and sources regarding Celtic of late, has revealed that the club are looking at a trickster that can score as well as provide goals and that the Gremio man is viewed as the person who could potentially give them that.

The report also states that Celtic have put the feelers out to his club and representatives and that the player himself is wanting the move. It’s also been reported that £6 million would be enough to secure the Brazilian due to his contract running out in 2024 and his club willing to cash in, as opposed to getting nothing.

Although it also says that English Premier League side Burnley are monitoring the situation too.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
