Celtic managerial candidate agrees Italy switch from Manchester City

Enzo Maresca has agreed a deal to become the new head coach of recently relegated Italian side Parma. Maresca was linked with the Celtic job on a number of occasions following Neil Lennon’s departure but was always second to preferred candidate Eddie Howe. Now, Maresca has agreed a three year deal with the side that finished bottom of Serie A.

Maresca looks to be swapping the managerial job at Manchester City’s U23s, working with the English Champions best and brightest, with the Serie B club. He won trophies with Juve and Seville as well as coaching with The Hammers, Seville and Ascoli. He is highly rated by Pep but now looks to become a manager in his own right.

Meanwhile Celtic will look to seal the deal to bring Howe to Paradise this week as well as his backroom staff in the coming days. Dominic McKay may also be plotting a raid on City by poaching Director of Football candidate Fergal Harkin from the Etihad. Howe was always the overwhelming favourite amongst the support and it is hoped that the announcement is due imminently as Celtic begin rebuilding ahead of next season and regaining all three trophies.
