Celtic may have dodged a bullet as they miss out on young talent with questionable attitude

There are many wonderful and weird things about football, but one of the most baffling things is the behaviour of clubs and players when they want a transfer to happen

If any of us just refused to go to work and held press conferences demanding to leave our jobs then we would be sacked, yet teams don’t bat an eyelid at all when a player does it.

What’s even more incredible is the buying club will then act shocked when the player pulls the same stunt in a couple of years when they want a move again, so Celtic might have avoided a future problem here.

According to a report from Football Insider, they were heavily linked with a move for West Ham youngster Veron Parkes, but he’s just signed for Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

The worrying thing from this report is that they claim he didn’t just act up at West Ham to get his move, he actually walked out on his contract so you do have to question his professionalism and decision making if that’s true.

The young striker is clearly talented and he was very prolific at U18 level for the Hammers, but he’s yet to make a first team appearance so he wouldn’t be an option for the first team just now anyway.

Hopefully he settles down in Holland and goes on to make the most of his talent, but it won’t be a surprise if a similar situation arises in a year or two.
