Celtic must win midfield battle in Glasgow Derby

Midfield will be key tomorrow and Celtic must win the battle…

If we are to be victorious tomorrow we have to get our tactics spot on, and one area in particular which will have a big say is the midfield.
Whoever wins the battle in the middle of the park will be the team that will most likely be celebrating come full time.

Phillipe Clement likes to go with two behind an attacking player in the central area so we will have to match them in that department.

Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley will have to be fully focused, fully committed and be at the top of their game if we are to take anything from this game.

I’d have liked to have seen Tomoki Iwata play in this game as I think it’s ideally set up for him, but unfortunately he’s injured so I think we will see the midfield trio who started at Dens on Boxing Day start the big one tomorrow.

We have seen in recent weeks that we look rather disjointed in the middle and teams have been playing through us with ease at some times.

We can’t afford to do that tomorrow or we will be punished. Of course our midfielders like to attack, but they’ve got to also remember their defensive duties tomorrow. We can’t neglect that. They’ve got to combine the two with great effect.

If we get that spot on tomorrow it will go a long way to earning an ever so vital victory.

  1. We will still attack no way Rodgers is going to change his way of playing if the opposition can’t get the ball to there midfield then what we can’t go in there fouling or over aggressive need 11 men on the pitch we have seen what’s allowed by some spl refs that Celtic have different laws when tackling but in Walsh we have the best ref in spl and won’t stretch the laws to far a lot of people watching epl Europe any biased would ruin his professional careerer alot of our sfa refs have let there careerer go to the gutter but European football is big on your cv for officails to so he’s young and ambitious can’t see him letting west of Scotland shame ruin his careerer like others
