Celtic nearing completion of £2.1m deal to sign winger

Celtic are nearing completion of the £2.1m deal to sign Yang Hyun-Jun. Gangwon have been increasingly reluctant to sell him given their precarious league position. Hyun-Jun is desperate for a deal to take place and it has even been suggested that he is willing to forego his salary to sweeten the deal. The suggestion has been that Celtic and Gangwon have already agreed a £2.1m fee and 12% sell-on fee.

The 21-year-old is desperate to become a Celtic player and Record Sport are reporting that the player is hopeful that the deal is edging towards completion.

“The stagnant situation is gradually being resolved. The club have reevaluated the value through CEO Kim Byung-ji during the one-on-one meeting. Still, there seems to be some progress. I think I hurt the fans too much. I want to make the fans smile and go to Celtic.”

Speaking last month to a South Korean news outlet, the right-winger said he wants to move to Glasgow.

“I want to go in the summer, not winter. I hope they allow it as promised.”

The article continues by saying the club were pushing a deal but given their league position, they sought a loan-back clause in the deal which would mean that the talented youngster would not join Celtic until January.

In 67 games, Yang has nine goals and five assists with Gangwon. It will be interesting to see whether there is any further movement in the attacker given that the teams appear to be at a deadlock with regards to their positions.

Celtic have already agreed deals for Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio as Brendan Rodgers continues his reshaping of the squad ahead of the new season. The manager will want his team to be in place ahead of the tour to Japan/South Korea for the second half of July.

It maybe looks like we are moving for Tete instead as Gangwon have obviously been a nightmare to deal with. I for one would rather we sign Tete.
