Celtic nearing second summer signing as fee agreed for Australian attacker

Celtic are reportedly closing in on a move for Melbourne City attacker Marco Tilio. The 21-year-old Australian Internationalist has caught the eye of the club and could be Brendan Rodgers’ next signing following his return to Paradise.

According to The Daily Record, the Treble winners have agreed a deal for the player that was named in the A-League Team of the Year for this season. A medical is required for the deal to go through but it appears to be on track that Celtic will make their second signing of the summer.

With nine goals and six assists in twenty-six appearances for the A-League side, Tilio is attracting interest and the Scottish Champions are close to bringing him to Celtic Park. Tilio appears to be an attacker that can play off both sides as well as through the middle. His versatility will appeal to Rodgers, who replaces Ange Postecoglou in the Celtic dugout.

Rodgers was unveiled as the new manager earlier today but the club have already confirmed the signing of Odin Thiago Holm this week. Rodgers praised the recruitment infrastructure that has been put in place by Michael Nicholson and implemented by Mark Lawwell.

Clearly, the club have continued to do their homework regardless of who the manager is and will continue to pursue deals for players that fit the profile of the club.
