Celtic offer Izaguirre Six Month contract, Arsenal’s Reluctance, long may it continue

CELTIC have offered Emilio Izaguirre a short term six month contract that would allow the popular Honduran to return to Paradise until the end of the year.

That shock news has been revealed earlier today by Eddy Atala, the President of Izaguirre’s first club in his homeland, Motagua. Emilio has been back training with his old club since leaving Celtic in May after rejecting a one year contract extension, stating that he wanted to move closer to home so he could cut down on the travelling back and forth to play for the Honduras national side. A move to the MSL was high on his wish list and it appears that the veteran 33 year old – who Neil Lennon initially signed for Celtic in his first season as Celtic manager – has plenty of options to weigh up.

According to Eddy Atala, as reported in Scottish Sun, this is what’s happening with the former Hoops star at the moment, as he ponders options from all over the world. Eddy would love him to remain at Motagua but accepts that this is highly unlikely.

“We spoke to Emilio Izaguirre’s agents this week and he has offers from clubs in the USA, Japan and Australia.

“There is also the possibility of him returning to Celtic, but that is only for a short time of six months.

“If Emilio decides he doesn’t like these offers, then we would of course offer him a contract here.

“Clearly, the offers elsewhere are better than ours economically, but we have 30 days or so before our transfer deadline so we can wait.”

Celtic have signed Belgian left back Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo for £3million from Rapid Vienna and have Kieran Tierney approaching full fitness after his double hernia operation in May. Arsenal have had two bids for Tierney rejected by Celtic but the Gunners may yet come back to meet Celtic’s asking price of £25million.

The North London club have been aware of Celtic’s asking price for a considerable period of time but have proven themselves to be reluctant to pay the required sum. Unless that changes Tierney will not be signing for Arsenal.

Emilio Izaguirre might come back as a favour to Neil Lennon but you would imagine that having ruled out staying on at Celtic and taking his family back to Honduras, the possibility seems pretty slim.

Lenny’s ‘Poo-poo’ Point on UEFA’s disgraceful Champions League Qualifying System

NEIL LENNON and Dan Petrescu could come face to face in a fortnight as their sides meet in the Champions League third round Qualifiers, assuming they can negotiate their respective way through the second leg of the second round this week.

Celtic are let’s say the bookies favourites to be there, after thrashing the Estonian Champions Nomme Kalju 5-0 at Celtic Park on Wednesday. For the former Chelsea star, his chances are tougher to call. His CFR Cluj side takes a 1-0 to Israel this week and Maccabi Tel Aviv will perhaps fancy their chances of overturning that narrow defeat to make it through to play Celtic…CONTINUE READING HERE.
