His arrival has been met with complete excitement from fans all across the Celtic family. The million pound man joined yesterday from Tottenham Hotspur, and it is safe to say that Joe Hart has reciprocated that feeling with the fans after acknowledging the ‘great fanbase.’
Hart, who signed a three-year deal at Paradise, has amassed 340 Premier League appearances, playing at all kinds of grounds in his prime as England’s best keeper. However, bar one charity match in 2018, Hart hasn’t played in front of a ‘proper’ Celtic Park before – something which he is clearly relishing.
Speaking to Celtic TV, the former England stopper said he was ‘pumped’ to start under Ange Postecoglou.
It’s been strange and it’s been tough for all different reasons and we’ve all had our stories during Covid, some more severe than others.
But, if you don’t want to go too deep, I think it’s the fact of missing being around each other and sharing the game that we love, and I know that stadium’s built for that.
It (Celtic Park) is built for the love of football, so I think it will be a really special experience to feel that with the fans coming back into the stadium and getting back to what we love to do.
The boys, what we love to do is play, and the fans, what they love to do is come and support.”
It seems a fair admission from Hart seen as he hasn’t played a competitive fixture at Celtic Park before. This is a man who has played at the Bernabeu, San Siro, Parc des Princes, Allianz Arena and Signal Iduna Park – but I would like to think he will be pleasantly surprised when he dons the gloves at Paradise.
