Celtic recruitment chief spotted scouting promising youngster

CELTIC‘s Nicky Hammond reportedly watched Airdrie winger Thomas Robert last week as the promising youngster continues to shine since joining from Montpellier. Robert, the son of ex-Newcastle star Laurent Robert, bizarrely chose to join the League 1 side despite interest from across Europe.

The Scottish Sun is reporting that Hammond and scout Tosh McKinlay has also been keeping tabs on the 20-year-old.

The report also says that Dundee United, Hearts, Hibs and Rangers are keeping tabs over the third tier attacker. The Frenchman has scored three and created two in eleven appearances this season.

Mikey Johnston has returned to the first team fold with Moi Elyounoussi the other winger available; however, James Forrest has been out injured for some amount of time and it looks as if it won’t be until the end of January that he makes a return.

Earlier today, Celtic beat Killie 2-0 as the Scottish Champions got back to winning ways on domestic duties. With Rangers going 16 points clear earlier, Neil Lennon’s side needed a win with a spirited Killie team in the way.

Goals from Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy gave Celtic a deserved second half lead with the Ayrshire side being tough to breakdown. Celtic now have two games in hand and a lead of 13 points to claw back.
