Celtic reject £500k EFL bid for upcoming striking talent

Celtic have reportedly rejected a £500k bid for Johnny Kenny. The Scottish Champions have kicked out an offer from EFL League One side Bolton Wanderers, who have taken a fancy to the Irishman.

As reported by Record Sport, Celtic have dismissed the initial bid from Bolton but the English side may return with an improved bid.

Kenny was signed from Sligo Rovers in 2022, initially joining Celtic’s development side. A loan was facilitated back to the League of Ireland with Kenny joining Shamrock Rovers. With the Dublin side, Kenny impressed scoring 26 goals and assisting 8 times in 76 appearances. The striker showed himself to be a handful in the Europa Conference League before returning to Celtic.

Brendan integrated Kenny into the first team with a first team debut away to Ross County, in which he assisted Luke McCowan. The player would make a further nine appearances for Celtic, scoring once against Aberdeen.

Celtic are expected to sign Callum Osmond from Fulham for a compensation fee, who will compete for a striking role at Celtic. It remains to be seen whether Brendan looks to put Daizen Maeda through the middle or looks to bring in a new striker, such as Mathias Kvistgaarden. Benjamin Nygren is expected to join to bolster the creative side of the team but there are further links to attackers as Brendan looks to ensure that his side are potent going forward next season.
