Greg Taylor is close to departing Celtic after six years. The left-back has been attracting interest over the last few weeks from Copenhagen but appears to have decided on a move to Greece to sign for PAOK. The ambitious Greek side have already signed Jonjoe Kenny, who played for Celtic during the second half of the COVID season.
According to Sun Sport, PAOK are close to signing the player and he is expected to sign next week after completing a medical.
PAOK have offered Taylor a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year, alongside a ‘significantly’ improved salary. One of the issues that had been reported with negotiations earlier in the year had been Taylor’s salary request. Celtic appeared to return to the table for Taylor but it was always going to be a secondary role with KT returning from Arsenal.
The update from the paper was dovetailed by a report on Twitter by Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports, who confirmed that the Scottish defender was expected to undergo a medical.
UPDATE: PAOK are closing in on the signing of Celtic left-back Greg Taylor.

After signing from Kilmarnock in the summer of 2019 to replace Tierney, Taylor has won 11 major trophies. The fullback has fought off a number of players for the jersey, even adapting his game to play as an inverted left back under Ange Postecoglou. Taylor has made 216 appearances for Celtic, scoring 9 goals and assisting on 33 occasions. The player would be a loss as he is a leader on the pitch and clearly a big character in the dressing room. Brendan and the club have left the decision up to the player in recognition of his service to the club over the last six years.
While I sincerely wish Greg the very best and thank him for everything he did for us, I can’t help but feel we have dodged a big bullet here!
Greg has just proven that he doesn’t have the guts it takes to fight for his place at Celtic. We are too big for him, and he must know it!

I think the fact Greg Taylor has fought off every single left back that has been at the club since Kieran Tierney left shows that he does indeed have the guts for the fight. He is probably being realistic in realising that he will always play second fiddle to a world class full back like Tierney. Moving to a beautiful country like Greece with his young family on vastly improved wages maybe just appealed more
