Celtic reportedly interested in Aaron Boupendza but face Premier League competition

Celtic are reportedly keen on bringing Aaron Boupendza to the club in the summer, according to 90Min. The Gabon International has scored 18 goals in 28 appearances and may represent a replacement for Odsonne Edouard. The player was reportedly linked with a £7m move away from Hatayspor but the move fell through to Rubin Kazan.

Celtic are likely to be entering a period of rebuilding as the fallout from the club chucking 10IAR continues. The club are waiting to appoint a new Director of Football and manager in the coming weeks as the rebuild under incoming CEO Dom McKay begins.

Edouard has been linked with a move away from Celtic with Leicester, AC Milan and Roma mentioned as being interested in the attacker. However, with Celtic’s poor form as well as a quiet season from the 23-year-old, the club may struggle to find the optimal fee for their prized asset.

The club have Leigh Griffiths, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala in attack should Edouard leave the club. It would be hard to begrudge a player of his talent from wanting to play in The Champions League, something poor planning and recruitment from the club have caused.
