‘Our priority will always be the safety of our fans,’ Scott Brown asks supporters to continue to adhere to restrictions

Scott Brown has urged Celtic supporters to continue to adhere to the restrictions. After Celtic slipped up again, they handed the Ibrox side their first SPFL title which sparked disgraceful scenes in Glasgow last weekend. Rangers did nothing to encourage their fans to go home and the chaos that was caused during a national lockdown was hard to take for all of us who have adhered to the rules. Now, Celtic have reinforced this message on the Official Website following a meeting with Professor Jason Leitch, the National Clinical Director.

“It was very interesting to hear the latest update and the message was really loud and clear – that we are still in a very difficult situation and that while we have made some good progress, so many people are continuing to contract the virus, so many in hospital and, of course, tragically, people are still dying. So we need to do all we can to look after each other and protect ourselves and our families.

“We know it has been so difficult for our fans not being part of matches, but they have done brilliantly throughout the pandemic. Our supporters have been great in sticking to the guidelines, even after we have won the League and another Treble, so we just need more of the same.

‘“Our priority will always be the safety of our fans and that is all we want to ensure, so our message once again is enjoy our matches from home and keep you and your family safe.

“All the players can’t wait to have our fans back with us, but for now we send our sincere thanks and appreciation for helping us to meet this challenge and also for the great support we have had all season.”

Brown will be gearing himself up to face Rangers at the weekend after Steven Gerrard’s side capitalised on Celtic’s poor form and won the league. He has missed the fans but hopefully he commits to a new deal so he can see the fans make their return later this year.

With a new manager coming to the club, Brown might be willing to wait and see whether he features in the new plans of the new boss. Brown can be a positive influence if his games are managed as well as his position.

Brown is one of Celtic’s most decorated player, became an Invincible Treble winner as well as racking up the most European appearances for a Celtic player. Brown is expected to make the transition into management and you cannot rule out seeing him in the Paradise dugout at some point, although it would be a shame to see the player leave after this season.
