Celtic posted a congratulations to B-team Bhoys Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal after playing their part in our opening match in the Sydney Super Cup on Thursday. Unfortunately for the youngsters, they couldn’t help the Hoops 2-1 deficit and succumbed to am opening game defeat.
Nevertheless, it’s always good to see younger players make the step up into the first-team setting and that’s just what we’ll need moving forward. We need to start showing our burgeoning talents that there is a clear pathway into the main squad and that chances will be given so that they can show their worth.
The loss of Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn to German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich was touch to take but one that has been coming. Likewise, to see Ben Doak thriving at Liverpool is sickening at times to read about and watch from a Celtic supporter’s perspective. Such rising stars deserve more chances to shine with the senior squad.
With that, it looks like Ange recognises this and is already aware that we have lost many emerging talents through a lack of forward planning. He will also be cogent to the fact that Callum McGregor and James Forrest came from the Celtic Academy and have been the bulwarks of our club for years. It’s good management that he’s included them in the Australian tournament during the current break from domestic football; letting younger players know that he’s willing to give opportunities if they work hard.
Hopefully they are two bug stars in the making and the potential will manifest into the real thing.
🇦🇺👏 Well done to B Team Bhoys, Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal who both featured in the Hoops' opening #SydneySuperCup clash earlier today.#CeltsInSydney | #COYBIG🍀 pic.twitter.com/58ubxqOSQq
