Celtic have reportedly set their price for Luis Palma amid ongoing interest in the winger. Despite a decent debut season after joining from Aris in which Palma scored 10 goals and assisted on 10 occasions, the player has fallen down the pecking order and is expected to leave.
According to El Heraldo, Celtic want €4m for the winger. The report states that they have received bids from Germany and France for the player but these have been knocked back, presumably to allow Celtic to source an option that is a suitable replacement.
Palma has made just 10 appearances this season with Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn dominating the wide areas. Palma came on in the win over St Mirren and will likely be included against Dundee United on Wednesday. It appears that Celtic are open to selling the player if their fee is met and if the club have an alternative in the building ready to compete with Maeda and Kühn for game time.
Unfortunately for Palma it appears that his time at the club is coming to an end. The player wants regular first team football and it is understandable given his age and profile. Although, it appears that he doesn’t fit Brendan’s requirement for pace and power, which Maeda and Kühn have excelled at so far this year.
Palma may only be our 4th choice wide option at present.
Even yang seems to be preferred on the left ahead of Palma also at present.
Yet only takes an injury to our other wide players and suddenly Palma becomes only wide sub option available.
So can’t see Rodgers allowing himself to be in such a position with 2 CL games still to play?
Hopefully that doesn’t become the case, but have to be prepared as best as possible for the unexpected also within the game, all the same
