Celtic set to submit take it or leave it bid for transfer target

CELTIC look set to make a new bid for Charlton’s Alfie Doughty but it will be the final offer submitted by the Scottish Champions as Neil Lennon looks to get some reinforcements in the door before the transfer window slams shut. The Daily Record are reporting that Neil Lennon will make an offer one more time for the 20-year-old before pursuing other options.

Doughty’s contract expires next summer, leaving him free to sign a pre-contract agreement in January. Whilst it is clear that Lennon wants his man, there may be other options to explore in the meantime as Celtic look to replace Bolingoli.

The report states that Celtic won’t pay over the odds for the versatile left back and will pursue other options in the meantime. Celtic’s need for a left back is urgent, along with a right winger as James Forrest was forced from the field in Thursday’s win over Riga in Latvia.

One name that was mentioned was Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon but the rumours have dried up – barring a link to Stoke City’s James McClean. The club are in need of a left back and have been since the Bolingoli fiasco. Greg Taylor has done his best and managed a few assists; however, in attack he is sometimes lacking to have the natural flair.

Moi Elyounoussi on the left and Jeremie Frimpong on the right could be something that after Riga, Neil Lennon is really thinking about.
