Celtic should seek fixture amendment for Dundee United clash ahead of Ibrox clash

Celtic should seek a fixture amendment for the game against Dundee United ahead of the visit to Ibrox on January 2 after the SPFL confirmed yesterday that the clash between Rangers and St Mirren in Paisley had been brought forward.

The game was scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm but after a request from the clubs, the match will now kick off at 3pm. This is not the first fixture in this game week to be changed with St Johnstone v Hamilton and Hibs v Ross County all moving from evening kick-offs to the 3pm slot.

As it stands, Celtic kick-off against Dundee United at Celtic Park at 7:45pm, giving Rangers an extra opportunity to prepare for the game between the sides at Ibrox on 2 January. The extra hours in preparation could make all the difference and after Rangers defeat in Paisley, there may be an extra mental element to the games taking place at the same time.

So far this season, Celtic have had to play a lot of catch up and with the game at Ibrox scheduled for an early kick-off, any advantage (however small) could make all the difference.
