Celtic signing Sead Hakšabanović’s previous transfers under investigation

Celtic’s new signing Sead Hakšabanović  previous transfer is under investigation due to a claim of non payment. Hakšabanović signed to Russian club, Rubin Kazan last summer for £5.5 million from IFK Norrkoping. Following the invasion of Ukraine,  wanted to move, and was subsequently signed by Celtic.

However, IFK Norrkoping are now claiming that Rubin Kazan never paid for the winger as they haven’t received the £5.5 million. This has triggered an investigation to be carried out by FIFA.

Hakšabanović’s move to Celtic is NOT being questioned however, it is accepted that he is signed to Celtic, the Swedish club simply want what they are due from Rubin Kazan. Reported by NT Sport, the IFK Norrkoping’s chairman, Mardh, outlined his club’s grievance.

“We are working on it (recouping the transfer fee) with our lawyers. It is generally difficult with business contact with Russia right now, everything takes a long time. this is something completely new. It is nothing that anyone has experienced before, everything is untested.

“We have our lawyer with us in this, and he is one of the best transfer lawyers in the country.”

“it is FIFA we are in contact with. should it become relevant to impose a transfer ban on them (Rubin Kazan) then that is FIFA’s question. We are not alone in being in a situation like this.”

The chairman was also asked how the Russian side were able to sell Sead to Celtic, he said: “That is what we are trying to figure out a little. we will contact them, but he is still their player.”
