Celtic stalwart cleared to join his former club as other interest falls away

We all knew that there would be a big rebuild this summer, but it already looks like the forward line is going to see a more radical change.

Moi Elyounoussi will return to Southampton after his loan spell, it looks like Klimala will be sold in a permanent deal, Eddy still looks odds-on to leave because his contract is running down and everything is now pointing to Leigh Griffiths moving on.

The Sun have confirmed that his contract is expiring this summer although Celtic do have the option to extend that deal, but it’s worth around £1m to Griffiths so that is a big salary for someone who’s not a regular starter.

Obviously if he’s fit and on form you would keep him because he’s always good for a goal and he’s a popular player among the fans, but the problem has been a complete lack of fitness, form and probably confidence over the last season.

The report also looks at his next move as it’s believed that there was some interest from Aberdeen in taking Griffiths and Brown this summer, but it appears that Stephen Glass has now decided to focus on other targets.

That leaves Hibs as the main suitor his signature at this point, and it’s a move that would probably make a lot of sense.

He’s still a fan-favourite there because he played so well in a previous spell and he’s also known to be a fan of the club, while you would think he would be an automatic starter whenever he’s fit.

There is an argument to be made for Celtic keeping him around just to have some kind of continuity, but it you would think the new manager will want to sign his own long-term options in the position so it does look like Hibs are his best option at this point.
