Celtic summer target to be rewarded with new contract

Marseille are set to hold contract talks with Bamba Dieng, who was a Celtic target in the summer. It appeared that the Senegal Internationalist was set to be sold in the summer but appears to have impressed the hierarchy at the Ligue 1 club resulting in them hoping to secure him on new terms.

The 22-year-old, who was a key component as OM finished second to Paris Saint-Germain last season, had been linked with a move to Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic in the summer. Dieng scored once at the World Cup and caught the attention of fans due to his pace. As per Get Football News France, Dieng is set to be rewarded for his performances on the pitch and in training.

Celtic had been linked with the player, amongst a number of other clubs. OM were keen to offload the player as opportunities will be limited due to the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Inter Milan. Dieng had fallen out of the manager’s plans and the Ligue 1 outfit were said to be willing to sell the player and were quoting £8m for a permanent deal. The player has made 48 appearances for Marseille, scoring 10 goals and assisting three times.
