Celtic target Alexandro Bernabei’s fee set by Lanus

Celtic are in the market for a left-back and have been linked with quite a few names of late. However, there seems to be more traction on the links with Alexandro Bernabei, with rumours that the player has been left out of successive matchday squads as he attempts to get his move to Europe this summer.

Now it has been reported by Record Sport that the Bhoys have been given the official price tag that the South Americans have set to any potential suitors of the 21-year-old. That fee is reputedly somewhere between £2.5 – £3.75 million. Quite reasonable considering the pedigree the kid has, having represented Argentina’s U-19’s numerous times.

As Celtic look to thrash out a compromise for the highly courted Bernabei as competition for Greg Taylor at full-back, the player himself has missed back-to-back matches as both be and the club want to keep him injury free. It would be a pity if he were to be included and something should happen – scuppering any chance of a dream relationship in Glasgow’s East End.

The report also states that the Lanus board are preparing themselves for the players departure and expect it to happen relatively soon; all pointing to a deal being struck with Ange Postecoglou and Michael Nicholson. They did receive a bid from the club in the past few days but deemed it “insufficient” to their needs for Bernabei.

For now we play the waiting game.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
