Celtic target likely to be available this summer after manager’s admission

You generally want to try and get some of your transfer business sorted nice and early, but that may be an impossibility for Celtic just now.

John Kennedy is the interim manager but there’s little chance that he’ll be kept on so he won’t have a say in recruitment for now, while there’s no Sporting Director structure either so that makes it more difficult to sign players.

It may be possible that younger “project type” signings could still be snapped up if there’s a unanimous  agreement at the club that they have undoubted potential, but Josh Doig may not fall into that category just yet.

He’s certainly promising and he’s been a key player for Hibs this season, and a report from HITC has indicated that it could be his last in Edinburgh.

Jack Ross has admitted that it will be difficult to keep him and they’re simply enjoying his qualities while he’s still there, while Celtic have also been listed as a likely landing spot for the young full back.

Interestingly Ross is one of the many names linked with the Celtic job just now, although he might not be a big enough name to satisfy the fans at this point.

The problem with this link is there’s simply no telling if the new manager would rate Doig and want to sign him, so it’s likely that any interest won’t be acted upon until the coaching team has been sorted out first.

He does look like he would be a cheaper alternative to Laxalt next season so he is the kind of player that Celtic should be looking to sign, but there are bigger issues to sort first.
