Celtic tease exciting Tuesday morning announcement

Celtic have teased a new special edition kit to recognise the club’s Irish roots. In a social media post on Monday evening, a cryptic post was published stating that there would be an announcement at 8am on Tuesday.

The Scottish Champions revealed a special fourth kit last season, celebrating the club’s Irish heritage. Although, Celtic were unable to wear the kit in action. This was a disappointment as the top was a favourite amongst supporters and it is hoped that the top will receive an outing against St Johnstone at the weekend.

Hopefully the post will give details of whether the kit will be used and, given this would be the fifth kit released this season, the cost would be affordable for supporters.

Elsewhere, Celtic will be without both skipper Callum McGregor and vice captain Cameron Carter-Vickers for the game against St Johnstone. Craig Levein’s side travel to Celtic Park, having drawn in their earlier meeting at the home of the finest team in Scotland.

The only “exciting” reveal Celtic could make right now is the addition of a quality player or two coming in on free transfers or from Asia, the US, etc. There’s nothing remotely exciting about some old rehashed Celtic strip celebrating Irish roots in a Scottish country. This will be another stunt to distract disgruntled fans while fleecing a few more quid from them. They know what they can do with their Irish-themed strip!

I certainly don’t like this determined effort by Celtic to associate our club with Ireland. Celtic has nothing whatever to do with Ireland, despite it’s Irish religious founder. Celtic is a Scottish club in Scotland, not an Irish club in Scotland. It’s about time people started to make this point clear. And I say this as one whose mother’s maiden name is Murphy.

    • Celtic have beat themselves by going all out for goals when they are ahead let teams come at us even if they wait till last 10 mins to do it yes they get leeway by referees time waisting all through the game walking length of pitch to take throw in or corner kick goalkeepers get ignore balls handed to them to walk for ball futher away livi done it even when they were behind till they went behind with minutes to go Celtic could have scored two or three when livi came out of their park the bus we rip them apart alright our defence was hammered by media two goals livi got was our mistakes but those guys won’t hit the ball any sweeter the had one header saved by Joe this is a team of giants that practice set pieces and one header our defence done something right loved to get hearts in cup if the get through payback one cert Beaton will referee one of two games we have in cup he might have got final with his far performance

There were certainly Irish immigrants associated with Celtic in the early days, but there were also lots of Scots nationals associated as well. That’s why I don’t understand this fixation with the Irish stuff. I’m not looking to change history, I just want it left where it belongs – in the past!

Martin, the fact that you “ don’t understand”, is neither here nor there, Celtic were founded by an Irishman, to feed starving Irish immigrant children, its most certainly important to recognize that Scots were also involved and that’s how it should be, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate our Irish roots, respectfully yours.
