“Celtic, Thank you. It has been an honour,” Clarissa Larisey says her goodbyes

Clarissa Larisey has said her goodbyes at Celtic and is now in Sweden ready to progress her career at top Swedish outfit BK Häcken who last season were runners-up in the Damallsvenskan and will now play in the Champions League later this year.

This evening the former Celtic star posted a message to Celtic – teammates, coaches and supporters – to say thank you. She said:

“Celtic, Thank you. It has been an honour to play for such a historic organization.
To the coaches and staff, thank you for helping me grow as a player. To the players, thank you for the amazing friendships and memories. To the fans, thank you for all your love and support.”

Clarissa established herself as an international player while at Celtic and there is no doubt that the Celtic coaches led by Fran Alonso developed her game considerably in the season and a half she spent in Glasgow. She’s been playing against top sides like Australia and Brazil for Canada who are the current Olympic Champions and one of the favourites for the Women’s World Cup this summer which is being held in Australia and New Zealand.

Swedish women’s football is much more advanced than the slow-out-the-stalls Scottish game and the crowds in Sweden for women’s football are much bigger than in Scotland. Celtic need to develop our fan-base and then our commercial operations for the women’s game or we are going to struggle to keep the top talent such as Clarissa Larisey at our football club.

Watch Cal fly in Sweden.
